Can digital assistants help your farm office?

Tips and tricks for popular intelligent personal assistants

Intelligent personal assistants have come a long way since Microsoft’s Clippy Office Assistant. Current popular offerings include Apple’s Siri, Google, Microsoft’s Cortana and Amazon’s Echo/Alexa. While these tools are available on different platforms, they do offer helpful resources for your smart office such as setting appointments and reminders, taking notes, reading messages and even ordering items. There are four popular digital assistants:

1. Apple’s Siri“Hey Siri, read my latest email,” is one of many commands for the popular digital assistant from Apple available on the iPhone. Siri has many commands, but some business uses include sending/reading text messages and emails, list-making and notetaking, maps, check the weather, check stocks and searching the web. 2. Google NowAvailable on Android devices, Apple mobile devices with an app and Google’s Chrome browser, search is launched with the statement, “Ok, Google.” Google Now can set calendar appointments, alarms, reminders, make calls, send text messages, play music, use maps and help you find answers. 4. Amazon’s Echo/AlexaThis digital assistant runs hands-free from a countertop device that is solely dedicated to accessing resources through the use of digital assistant software and is prompted by stating “Echo” or “Alexa.” Alexa can manage your Google Calendar appointments, provide news reports, weather information, manage lists and allows you to order products from Amazon.
