Caterpillar gets into consumer market

The company is expanding its lineup and it's starting with generators.

Caterpillar is getting into the home and outdoor power market with its new Cat RP Series generators. Designed to provide reliable backup or recreational power to residential users, and portable power to pro contractors who need tools and lights on the job, the initial models range in size from 3.6 kW to 7.5 kW for the U.S. market.

Caterpillar plays on its long-term reputation in big generators, and heads for the home and outdoor market.

The machines will be available through Cat dealers, local retailers and eventually national retailers and wholesalers which will serve as Cat Home and Outdoor Power Authorized Sales and Service Centers. The new generator models will move into the market through the rest of 2016. The company reports that an expanded home and outdoor power portfolio is under development with more product launches anticipated in 2017. Learn more by visiting cat.com/homeandoutdoorpower.
