Hog producers, veterinarians and students wanting to learn more about water quality issues for animals can participate in an Oct. 27 webinar hosted by Purdue University's Department of Animal Sciences.
The free webinar will be presented live at 5 p.m., originating from Room 3-113 of Lilly Hall on Purdue's West Lafayette campus. It will be available at ansc.purdue.edu/SP/WQW.
"Poor water quality can lead to increased incidence of disease and reduced animal performance," said Allan Schinckel, professor of animal sciences and webinar organizer. "In the past few years, livestock producers have become increasingly concerned about water quality issues."
Presenters include Brian Richert, associate professor of animal sciences, whose talk is titled: "What Are the Water Quality Issues for Swine?"
Ernest Blatchley III, associate professor of civil engineering and environmental and ecological engineering, will share "Water Treatment for Hog Production Operations," and Tom Gillespie, swine veterinarian at Rensselaer Veterinary Services, will present "Veterinary Case Reports."
