Private exporters reported Mexico bought 107,188 metric tons of U.S. corn in which 59,309 is for the 2014/2015 crop year and the remaining 47,879 is for the 2015/2016 year, USDA said on Friday.
Mexico is the leading buyer of U.S. corn and as of Sept. 18 had nearly 2.95 million metric tons in outstanding sales.
The marketing year for corn began Sept. 1.
Exporters are required to report to USDA any export sales activity of 100,000 tons or more of one commodity made in one day or quantities totaling 200,000 tons or more in any reporting period, except 20,000 tons for soybean oil, made in one day to one destination by the following business day.
