Rough Day For Corn And Soybeans

Disappointing ethanol news for corn and a fall below the 200-day average in soybeans has markets on the slide. (audio)

Just when it seemed there was no information coming from the government, news from EPA that they are considering lowering next year’s renewable fuels number hit the streets putting pressure on corn prices at harvest. Great weather has combines moving at a quick pace before rains come to the Midwest to open next week adding harvest pressure to corn and soybean prices.  Wheat prices continue to find strength as they seem to be picking up demand signals that were a little unexpected.

Market Analyst Paul Burgener joined the Farm Futures team in November 2012 and brings a solid ag economics background. A former University of Nebraska Extension Ag Economist with training from the University of Wyoming, Burgener brings extensive experience to his new role.
