John Norris has been named chief of staff by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. On Friday, Vilsack also announced that Carole Jett would serve as deputy chief of staff.
Norris served as Vilsack's chief of staff during his first term as governor in Iowa and since then has been chairman of the Iowa Utilities Board. He also was the Iowa Farm Unity Coalition state director in the mid 1980s. His wife Jackie has been chosen as chief of staff to First Lady Michelle Obama.
Jett spent 33 years in federal service before leaving to help with the agriculture portion of Obama's campaign in Indiana. She also lead the USDA transition team. She worked as Farm Bill Coordinator for the Natural Resources Conservation Service during the last two farm bills.
