Kubtota has unveiled a new fit-in-the-pickup utility vehicle and added a factory cab and air-conditioning to the RTV 1100 for 2012.
The RTV400Ci is a 1200-pound machine powered with a single-cylinder fuel injected Subaru engine designed specifically for the Kubota application. Its 16 horsepower and CVT transmission are well matched for pulling up to 1,102 lbs. and carring 441 lbs. in its cargo bed.
The CVT Plus transmission keeps the belt tension uniform throughout idle to full power for longer belt life, and the unit will rival Yamaha's CVT engine braking -- holding the vehicle in check regardless of the grade.
Steering is light, being power assisted, and the controls are intuitive and easy to operated even with gloves. And, the machine fits in a standard long-bed pickup bed for easy transport.
The RTV400Ci rear end is sprung on leaf springs for added stability under load, and a 2-inch receiver hitch makes towing simple.
Up the line to the RTV1100, Kubota has added a factory-installed all-weather cab with heat and air, and a recirculating air defogger.
The RTV1100 is powered with a three-cylinder Kubota diesel engine rated at 24.8 hp. and applies power to the ground through a three-range hydrostat transmission. Top speed is 25 miles per hour and towing capacity is rated at 1,300 lbs.
Kubota engineers have quieted the cab to 83 decibles at top speed and equipped the machine with four wheel hydraulic disc brakes.
The vehicle steers easily with power steering and features a unibody cab and chassis frame, along with an OSHA+SAE ROPS. The cargo bed is rated at 1,102 lbs. and comes with a hydraulic lift.
A number of tools match up to the RTV 1100, include snow plows, scraper blades, on-board boomless and wand sprayers, and a sweeper broom.
We were impressed with the fit and finish of both machines, and particularly liked the stop-and-go performance of the RTV400Ci.
